A Wonderful Observation
I came across a wonderful observation, that in time flourished into amazing insights. I hope you get much out of it too.
If you are an atheist, let’s consider something before we progress.
My approach is different than you find on most videos by Christians addressing atheism. In the Bible God uses prophecy as the proof of His identity (We have a page covering this topic - Let's Reason Together). I provide one very simple example of this approach, very easy to see and understand. You can email me at brettact2@gmail.com and tell me if this had some value for you, or was way off because of…
Back to this wonderful observation.
Background
In Exodus chapter 12 we have the synopsis of the Exodus event. Interestingly, Israel entered Egypt on the same date they left it and moved into the wilderness. Both of Israel’s moving days were the same date.
Later, when Israel moved out of the wilderness and into the Promised Land of Canaan, it also occurred at the same time, now identified as Passover time. The three times in a row that Israel moved, crossing national boundaries, were at the Passover time.
This gets more interesting. Each of these three Passover moves occurred during significant events, and a significant figure was involved.
When Israel moved from Canaan to Egypt Joseph was involved, during the great famine. When they moved from Egypt into the wilderness Moses, Aaron and Miriam were involved, during the Exodus. And when they moved from the wilderness into Canaan, Joshua was involved, initiating the conquest of Canaan.
Now they were in their homeland and were not meant to move again. The nation of Israel was launched. But the involvement of these three people still had a story to tell.
Three of these people’s names show up again, together. Joseph, Miriam, and Joshua. Later, as these names became English, we know them as Joseph, Mary, and Jesus. Interesting, Jesus and his parent’s names.
Why were these three names, from the founding time frame of the nation of Israel, also the names of Jesus’ family? Not only that, but each name was involved in His crucifixion event. What is God telling us about these three historical Passover season events that are joined together as the backstory for the Messiah? Why is this prophecy relevant to our lives? Let’s explore!
Please note
This site is not ‘loaded with ammunition’ against atheism. This is as heavy as the site gets on this topic. To me it’s simple. If God tells us the future about significant world events, He shows us He is real. Prophecy is more than taking the present day events and stretching them into the future, speculating about how they will turn out. The Bible gives us radical information about our present day, inconceivable 2,000 years ago. Jesus told us He would return when if He didn't, all life would end on earth.
Matthew 24 - Signs of the End
21 There will be terrible suffering in those days. It will be worse than any other from the beginning of the world until now. And there will never be anything like it again.
22 If the time had not been cut short, no one would live. But because of God's chosen people, it will be shortened.
- NIRV
We live in that time. But how does a man, from the time in history when the worst people could do is fight with knives and swords, even conceive of something like what we are now routinely discussing about our possible future? It's not possible, unless God revealed it to Him.
I appreciate you have a ton of criticisms of religions. A lot of religious people have some of the same criticisms and want leaders who are more authentic and less into showmanship and car selling techniques.
I recommend putting your critiques of religious movements on the backburner for now and just face the issue I'm addressing in this site: does God prove He exists, as He says, through prophecy? Let's dig in and unravel the atheist's dilemma.
